전설 : 하늘의 신이 베를 잘 짜는 딸 오리히메(직녀)와 성실한 소몰이꾼 히코보시(견우)를 결혼시켰으나,
두 사람이 사랑에 빠져 일을 게을리하자 노하여 은하수를 사이에 두고 갈라놓았습니다.
이후 이들의 슬픔을 가엽게 여겨 1년에 한 번, 7월 7일 밤에만 만나는 것을 허락했다는 전설에서 유래되었습니다.
명칭 유래 : 고대 일본에서 신을 맞이하기 위해 '다나(선반)'를 만들고 베를 짜는 도구인 '바타(베틀)'를 사용해 옷을 지어 바치던
의식에서 '타나바타'라는 이름이 붙여졌습니다.

corresponding to "Chilseok" in Korea.
(1) Main Origin and Meaning
The Legend : The Sky King married his daughter, Orihime (the weaving princess), to Hikoboshi (a hardworking cowherd).
However, they became so deeply in love that they neglected their work. Angry at this, the Sky King separated them by the Milky Way.
Pitying their sadness, he eventually allowed them to meet only once a year, on the night of July 7th.
Origin of the Name : The name "Tanabata" is said to originate from an ancient Japanese Shinto ritual
where a "Tanabata" (weaving machine) was placed on a "Tana" (shelf) to weave special clothes for the gods.
